To build on the Rock (1)

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24).

"On this rock I will build My church..." (Matthew 16:17-18).

"The Lord is my rock, my fortress... my rock, in whom I take refuge" (Psalm 18:2 NIV).

Since we are Christians, we have started to build our house on a rock and the Rock is God; and more specifically this Rock is the revelation of who Christ is through His Word.

That is why it may have different sizes depending on our understanding of who Christ is and what He has done for us.

The Rock can be so small – it is no more than a stone – so that when the storm comes, however we try to cling to it, we will be overwhelmed, tossed high by the waves and maybe on the verge of dropping out.
