Since He delights in him

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue him; let Him deliver him, since He delights in him!" (Psalm 22:8).

When Jesus was on the cross, the chief priests, the scribes and the elders mocked at him, saying, "He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him" (Matthew 27:43). There is no doubt that God the Father loved His Son. But His agony on the cross was fully part of God's will and His redemptive plan for the world. That is why He did not intervene and let His Son suffer until death so that the sacrifice is complete and perfect.

But for us, His children, who are not called to die on the cross for our sins because Jesus has already done everything for us, God will act differently. Since He loves us and delights in us, He saves us and delivers us from our enemies if we trust in Him.
