They did not wait for His plan

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold" (Psalm 106:13 NIV).

Although the people of Israel believed in God thanks to the manifestation of His power, they soon forgot the miracles that He had made. God had a purpose for them, but they did not consult Him. The people of Israel believed they knew better than to wait for God’s plan, just as king Saul believed he didn’t need to wait for the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 13:13-14).

This attitude will lead to lust (nostalgia of their stay in Egypt – Psalm 106:14), jealousy (of those who consult God – Psalm 106:16) and idolatry (which replaces God in our decisions – Psalm 106:19). But this moved them even more away from God and provoked His wrath.
