God's dwelling place

by Jean-Louis Coraboeuf

"If someone loves me, he keeps my word, and my Father will love him; we will come to him and make our home [mone] with him" (John 14:23).

We prove our love for God by obeying His Word. The Greek word mone means dwelling, habitation, stopping place, hostelry, apartment, lodging. It has given rise to the English word monastery, which means a place to stay, a place where one draws back from the world into the presence of God.

When we obey what God asks us to do, we prepare a place for him where he loves to come to rest, a sanctuary. God does not only want to visit us, he wants to live in us, in our holy place. And it is in His presence that we will taste his Shalom. So, let us lose no time in entering into His presence, for he awaits our arrival!
