Not by sight

by Vanessa

"So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:6-7).

We often suffer from not hearing clearly, or audibly, the voice of God, specially when we are facing difficult choices. Just as often we seem not to know God because we do not see Him or feel His presence. But according to the above verse this is normal.

We are called to walk daily by faith, that is to say, to lead our lives in accordance with convictions that indeed not only come from our relationship with God and His Holy Spirit, but also from our obedience and our understanding of His Word.

Then, even if it is difficult and even if we would like the directions of our lives to be clearer and more obvious, as long as we are in this human body, we are so far from God that we need to walk by faith.

This is not inconsistent with the need of seeking God and His presence, but explains why most of the time we live our lives without seeing anything, except by following God's Word and the convictions the Holy Spirit places in us.
